Phuket in November: weather, rain and the sea
How much it rains in Phuket in November, how warm the days and nights are, whether you can swim, and when Loy Krathong falls, based on the Thai Meteorological Department's climate normals.
November in Phuket is a month of change. The wettest months are over, but the dry season has not started yet. If you are coming in November, it helps to know what weather to expect and to have a plan for a rainy evening.
The rainy season is not over yet
According to the Thai Meteorological Department, Phuket’s dry season runs from December to March, and the other eight months are the rainy season. November is the last of them. Here is the 1981–2010 climate normal for the airport station:

November is much drier than October, but it still rains on more than half the days. The station in Phuket Town shows slightly lower figures: 177 mm and 15 rainy days.
A normal is a thirty-year average. A given November can turn out drier or wetter, and the normal is not broken down by week.
Temperature and sunshine
- Days are about 31 °C, nights 23–24 °C. The daily mean is about 27 °C, almost the same as in October and December.
- Humidity is about 83%.
- Sunshine is about 138 hours a month, roughly four and a half hours a day. October gets three and a half, December almost six.
The sea
Phuket Tourist Police warn that the southwest monsoon season brings dangerous swimming conditions to the island’s beaches. A red flag means strong currents and rough seas, and swimming is prohibited. Go into the water only in marked swimming zones where lifeguards are on duty.
Loy Krathong
The festival falls on the full moon of the 12th month of the Thai lunar calendar, usually in November. In the evening people float krathongs, small rafts with flowers and candles, on the water. In 2026 it falls at the end of November: calendars give the 24th or the 25th. Check the exact night closer to the date.
If the evening is rainy
In November rain can come in the evening, too. That is a good reason to stay in: order food, turn on the air conditioning and pick up a controller.
